1 point is £1 each way, so £2 a bet. Most selections are 1 point. The strongest get 2 or 3, because that is where testing made the most.

Most selections lose. About 41% place, often at 10/1 to 33/1, and those returns more than cover the losers.

The rule

A horse is selected when v8's chance of winning and its chance of finishing in the places say the each way bet is worth at least 5% more than it costs, even at a price 15% worse than we show. Up to 33/1. Nobody picks them by hand. The same rule as the each way strategy: only the stakes differ.

  2. Back every selection, every day, at its points. At the odds shown or better, with a bookmaker paying at least the places shown. No skipping the ones you don't fancy and no chasing after a loss: the record only holds if every bet is in it.
  3. Judge it by the month, not the day. In testing 30 of 36 months were up, and losing runs of 20 bets happened. Quiet days are part of it.
